With the development of air transport, airports have gone from being simple huts where passengers could take shelter from bad weather, sometimes known as "air stations", to become modern infrastructures equipped with the latest technology, cultural facilities, commercial premises and restaurants. All in all, airports have become meeting and entertainment places for passengers and those accompanying them, in addition to fulfilling their principal function as an air and land transport interchange centre.
However, despite air travel being something of a daily activity for millions of passengers that transit airport terminals each year, many of the activities that go on in them and that allow for the distances between two given points to become ever shorter are still unknown to the majority of air transport users. Since its first edition, the goal pursued by Iván Tejada, one of Aena's great professionals and author of this book, has been to make the general public aware of this network of activities, technology and the work of many professions that enables this high quality and apparently simple service to be offered.
The great deal of interest and acceptance sparked by its previous two editions, which have already sold out, has led to a third edition of ?Descubrir los aeropuertos" and its translation into English.
